the bodyloft backstory (in case you were wondering)
bodyloft founder Eryn Korby has a newfound passion for health & fitness. after years of struggling with her weight, and a rollercoaster of gaining and losing that included five stints on weight watchers, a bout with B12 shots and phentermine (awful), a round of nutrisystem, and several tries at good old fashioned diet and exercise, Korby has finally found her fitness fix.
Korby worked in the music biz for about a decade, then some tv production, and she has oodles of experience in events and promotions. all this glamourous work was kinda fun for awhile, but after a particularly difficult production job working for a major superstar during the winter of 2006, Korby found herself angry, depressed, and unsure of her future. after 20 years of struggling with her weight (see above), and with a major milestone birthday approaching, she decided to take control of her body, and her life, and begin a long and ardous, yet exhilirating fitness transformation in April of 2007. she began working out four times a week at Boot Camp Las Vegas, and quickly found her endurance, stamina, and muscle mass increasing, and her body fat beginning to drop off. in tandem with a mostly holistic nutrition regimen which entails eating several small meals per day, Korby began to see her body respond to the training in ways she never thought possible. having never been an athlete, and usure of her athletic abilities at the start, Korby soon went from running a 12 minute mile to running a mile in 8:07. she also began running longer distances, and regularly competes in 5k's going from 31+ minutes at first, down to 28, and working on 25! she recently completed the IronGirl triathlon sprint race at Lake Las Vegas on April 12, 2008, with a respectable time of 1:45, and she has now set her sights on the Chicago half-marathon in September 2008.
Though still in the midst of her own personal transformation, she has dedicated much of her time helping others who are struggling with similar issues, and is now aiming to help those who help us stay healthy...the clubs, the trainers, the nutrition companies, the fitness events and races, etc. if there's one thing Korby knows, it's how to get the word out in a creative way, and how to maximize exposure, even on a not-so-corporate budget. she has brought her 10 years of music and television industry experience in marketing, production, events, PR, and promotions to the health and fitness industries, and she couldn't be happier. Her bodyloft fitness series is launching this summer.
The bodyloft philosophy is this: you're fun and creative and stylish in all other aspects of your life, right? why should that stop when it comes to fitness? bodyloft offers challenging classes with an entetaining mix of style and pop culture that will keep you guessing and coming back for more. And speaking of stylish, Korby is developing a line of actually stylish and great looking workout clothing...those words all in the same sentence are no longer an oxymoron! the line will be called bodyloft, natch.
Eryn Korby is currently certified as a fitness trainer with the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and she is studying for an additional certification with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
