bodyloft fitness series launching late summer, 2008
wtf is bodyloft?
Demanding classes meet creative content with bodyloft, a fresh concept in group fitness training.
bodyloft is not a new fitness concept; it’s a better fitness concept. bodyloft is different. It’s a place where all its members are asked to leave the stresses of life at the door and enter into a super cool, effective, and most of all…supportive fitness environment where everyone trains together, all the time. See, bodyloft only does group fitness. Because working out alone is just no fun. The classes are innovative and range from artsy to hardcore, but are always challenging. The themes are fun and fresh, but these are no novelty classes. Hiring only the toughest instructors in Vegas ensures a demanding workout for every member. And bodyloft does all this to amazing music: rock, indie rock, punk, modern techno, 80’s, etc. We even have live DJ’s and take requests. How cool is that?
Take the creative juice of an art gallery or a professional dance studio, and mix in some funky street vibes and serious heavy lifting. It's Rocky meets Fly Girls meets Flashdance. It’s people that appreciate Tony Hawk, Lance Armstrong, and Arnold Schwarzenegger equally. Maybe the occasional parkour class. On Halloween get ready to learn the Thriller dance with the coolest people in town. Feel like "stepping it up"? After a few of our step dance sessions MTV will be knocking on your door. You can break dance, you can do a core strengthening class to heavy metal, or you can do the Rocky workout -- yes the exact Rocky workout -- to inspirational music from the Rocky series and other corny 80's films. Feel like kicking some butt MMA combat style? Check. As for Flashdance, this ain't no sissy class...but leg warmers are encouraged. In the mood for some Steel Yoga? Or how about the classic “Punk Rock Aerobics” straight from NYC? Wanna climb a mountain? We'll do that too...field trips aren’t just for kids anymore. Are you getting the feeling that bodyloft is truly innovative group fitness?
Do yourself a favor and check out our class descriptions and schedule. We're launching soon and would really love for you to be there. You may notice many of the class names have rock references. We want to assure you that bodyloft won’t blast heavy metal all day, but the essence of bodyloft is that it’s an eclectic place where traditional workout music is shunned. Because again, that kind of music is typical. And bodyloft is anything but. It would be our hope that by ditching the traditional workout scene for some upbeat group training with more enlightened music and innovative themes, you might become a little more enlightened as well. Or at least look better in those skinny jeans.
welcome to bodyloft.
about bodyloft creator Eryn Korby:
The fitness industry is boring. It is. Aside from Richard Simmons and Jillian Michaels (both bodyloft heroes), the fitness industry isn't usually full of personality. bodyloft creator Korby, on the other hand, has got personality to spare. But don't let her sass fool you. She holds a degree in the Sociology of Popular Culture (seriously) with a minor in marketing from
bodyloft creator Eryn Korby struggled with her weight for 20 years. Like Oprah she was fat, thin, fat, thin…she had been on Weight Watchers three times, nutrisystem once, and had even tried phentermine and a bariatric physician…which was just plain frightening and unhealthy. She would go to the gym for a month, and then she would stop. Like Chandler Bing, Korby tried to “quit the gym” on several occasions, and sometimes succeeded, only to sign up with a new gym when she got motivated again. But that was just it: she had low self-motivation. Even at her most determined, she wouldn’t “push herself” to her physical limits to get fit. She hired trainer after trainer, only to be met with the same slow results every time, and exasperated trainers who would stop when she got too tired because well, she was paying them to listen to her. She realized the only time she truly enjoyed working out wasn’t on the nautilus machines or the treadmill (bor-ring) …it was in group exercise classes. So Korby tried a boot camp fitness program in
bodyloft is a place where pop culture and challenging fitness come together, making tough classes more appealing through the use of interesting music and themes. What better place than Vegas– a mecca for fitness (yes there are more gyms per capita here than anywhere in the
